Women at the Fair
The women’s rights movement was originally sparked by the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848. The convention was when Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott called for a convention “to discuss the social, civil and religious condition and rights of woman”. As a result of the convention women began to speak more in public, spreading their message. Because of this, Susan B. Anthony, Bertha Palmer, and May Eliza Wright Sewall made appearances at the World’s Fair.
